GMAW Gun Provides Respiratory Protection

Produced by ESAB Welding & Cutting Products (esab.com), the three models of the Tweco® Centrovac fume extraction GMAW guns capture welding fumes at the source, which helps meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) standards. The GMAW guns can also assist with meeting particulate limits in the operator’s breathing zone and when working in confined areas, including inside tanks or other situations with limited ventilation. The Centrovac 250C air-cooled unit is designed for light-duty fabrication applications and has a rating of 250 A at 60% duty cycle. With a rating of 380 A at 60% duty cycle, the Centrovac 415C air-cooled machine meets the needs of medium- and heavy-duty fabrication, including trailer manufacturing, shipyards, aerospace, and tank and vessel welding. The Centrovac 420CW water-cooled GMAW gun has a rated duty cycle of 100% at 430 A for heavy-duty welding and long duty cycles.

GMAW Subfeeder System Improves Reach

Created by Kemppi (kemppi.com), the SuperSnake GTX extends the reach of standard Euro-connected GMAW guns for welding sites not accessible with standard welding equipment. It automatically enables filler wire loading up to 30 m from the primary wire feeder. Lighter in weight than standard wire feed units, it is easy to move and place on site. This makes the subfeeder suitable for large-site environments where equipment movement and reach present significant challenges. Additionally, its user interface makes it easier for the welder to adjust parameters, including manual wire speed and voltage control as well as automatic power regulation and fine-tuning. The subfeeder comes with a metal protection frame that neatly combines, secures, and supports the cable’s package and hoses. It can be easily opened for fast cable package management. The frame can also be used for suspending and hanging the subfeeder above the work area. The subfeeder is compatible with the X5 FastMig family of products and standard Euro-connected GMAW guns.

Welding Machine/Generator Enables Diverse Applications

Made by The Lincoln Electric Co. (lincolnelectric.com), the Frontier™ 400X diesel-engine-driven welding machine/generator comes with optimized weld modes to tackle numerous welding applications. It offers full support and compatibility for advanced GMAW and fluxed cored arc welding applications as well as mechanized flat-track/orbital equipment. It also comes with shielded metal arc welding, direct-current gas tungsten arc welding, and carbon arc gouging modes. Powered by a 24.7-hp turbocharged Perkins® diesel engine, the machine delivers all-day power with 400 A of welding output to handle high-amperage applications. It also delivers 11-kW of 1/3 phase auxiliary power to run any tools on the jobsite. Other features of the machine include a compact, rugged design; an impact-rated digital user interface that allows for machine control and simplicity; weld-mode memories; maintenance reminders; productivity metrics; and optional personal identification number authorization.

Process Optimization System Facilitates GMAW

Offered by ELCo Enterprises, the Wire Wizard® (wire-wizard.com), Weld Central® process optimization system monitors and tracks key GMAW process variables, including current, voltage, wire feed speed, arc stabilization period, gas flow, and feed motor current. It also provides a new way to maximize uptime and overall equipment effectiveness. Combined with the Wizard View® software, the system improves weld cell performance monitoring.
