Through April 30, the Welding Equipment Manufacturers Committee (WEMCO), in partnership with the American Welding Society (AWS) Foundation, is accepting nominations for the 2021 Excellence in Welding Awards.

These honors recognize individuals, organizations, and educators who have gone above and beyond to promote welding and the skilled trades industries. To submit a nomination for the 2021 Excellence in Welding Awards, visit aws.org/eiw2021.

Membership in AWS or WEMCO is not required. Welding industry members are encouraged to nominate their peers who excel in one or more of the following categories: individual, educator, educational facility, small business, large business, distributor, AWS Section, media, and veteran.

Recipients will be announced and awards will be presented in September during FABTECH 2021 (fabtechexpo.com).

Previous winners include Newport News Shipbuilding, Workshops for Warriors, Norco, Coastal Welding Supply, Ferris State University Welding and Technology Program, Jeff Deckrow (Hypertherm), and more. In 2015, Mike Rowe, host of the Discovery Channel’s Dirty Jobs, was the first recipient of the exceptional category award for his efforts with the mikeroweWORKS Foundation that provides scholarships nationwide to help close the country’s skills gap.

“The entertainment industry loves to give out awards, and I’ve been honored with several in the past,” Rowe said. “But for me, the awards that matter most are the ones like this. To be recognized by AWS is better than gratifying. It’s humbling. Because, fundamentally, it’s a privilege to speak on behalf of so many good jobs that actually exist and help shine a light on so many great opportunities. I’m flattered, and very proud to accept this award on behalf of everyone at mikeroweWORKS. Thanks!”
