Since 1996, the American Welding Society (AWS) has designated April as National Welding Month. To celebrate our vast, diverse community and bring awareness to the industry, we have a variety of events planned.

Take the Torch

If you know anyone in the industry who is 18 years or older, encourage them to become an AWS member this month. All new members who join in April will be entered for a chance to win a customized AWS welding helmet. For each member you refer that signs up for a new membership, you’ll get credit for AWS’ Sparking Connections membership challenge.

Members-Only Benefit

AWS is starting a new online community in the AWS Member Network for those who want to share their welding projects.

My Welding Story on Instagram

Every welder has a story to tell. Throughout the month, AWS will highlight stories from people in the welding community and share how welding has shaped their lives.

Arc Junkies Panel Discussion on Instagram Live

The “Weld Wednesday with AWS” podcast series has gone live (instagram.com/tv/CcB-nEvFlKw/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=). The first episode featured Arc Junkies host Jason Becker and his special guests discussing “What Does the Next Generation of Welding Look Like?

New Series! Metal America

Starting in April, join Stephanie Hoffman as she travels the country for AWS’ new Metal America series. Hoffman will visit metal fabricators to explore some of the industry’s most unique careers. Don't miss an episode, subscribe to our YouTube channel today.

AWS ARCademy

This special series continues to add new how-to videos on AWS’ YouTube channel. It’s a great way to gain a basic understanding of welding processes and related topics for welders looking to polish their skills. Sample topics range from how to use common workshop tools and how to understand welding symbols to the top five mistakes to avoid when using different processes.

Monthly Updates from AWS’ CEO

The welding industry is constantly evolving, and “business as usual” is becoming a thing of the past. AWS President and CEO Gary Konarska II will be sharing his thoughts on important topics the welding industry faces each month on the AWS LinkedIn channel.

Join a Technical Committee

Volunteers are the lifeblood of AWS. The Society currently has more than 200 technical committees, subcommittees, and task groups and close to 2000 volunteer members on one or more of them. Members of the welding community who have a passion for the industry and who can lend their experience and expertise to the drafting and updating of AWS codes are welcome to join.

National Welding Month Discounts

Throughout April, AWS will be offering discounts on the following AWS products and services:

-Bookstore: Enjoy a 35% discount off list and member prices for hard copies of the Welding Handbook or any of the Welding Handbook bundles. Shipping is excluded from the discount.
